Therapy for Aging and Grief
My name is Jacob Brown. I’m an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist – I specialize in working with older adults, older couples, and grief counseling.
Aging is very stressful. Every part of your life is changing. Activities that used to be easy are now a challenge. People you loved and relied on are no longer there. Many of the things that gave your life a purpose have been lost.
Counseling can help you adjust to these changes and bring more meaning and joy into your life. Common issues dealt with in counseling include:
• Grief and sadness
• Anxiety & loneliness
• Changing sex life
• Loss of connection with your spouse
• Conflict with adult children
• Loss of purpose and meaning
• Illness, memory loss, end of life
• Caregiver burnout
My style is to be open, engaged, and highly transparent. I answer questions rather than deflect them, and I don’t keep secrets from my clients. The goal is for us to build a strong relationship, based on openness and honesty.
For those in a 12-Step program, I’m very comfortable working within a 12 Step framework.
